Anderson Valley Historical Society
The Anderson Valley’s history is quirky and colorful, just like the valley itself. The best known “quirk” is the development and use of a unique language called “Boontling,” invented by locals so they could talk privately in front of outsiders. Studied by academics and used throughout the valley in its heyday, Boontling is now spoken fluently by only a handful of community elders.
